Characteristics and Requirements of Air Compressor Gaskets
Sealing: They should have good elasticity and adhesion, being able to tightly fill the minute depressions on the joint surface under pressure, ensuring no leakage.
Temperature Resistance: They need to be able to withstand temperature changes during the operation of the air compressor (especially the higher temperatures of the cylinder body, exhaust pipelines, etc.), avoiding aging, hardening or losing elasticity under high temperatures.
Pressure Resistance: They can withstand the rated pressure of the compressed air (usually 0.7-1.6 MPa) and instantaneous impact pressure, preventing being punctured by the pressure.
Media Resistance: When in contact with the lubricating oil in the air compressor, the cooling liquid, or the trace impurities in the compressed air, they should have anti-corrosion and anti-swelling properties.
Abrasion Resistance and Anti-Aging: During long-term use, they need to resist the effects of friction and environmental factors (such as humidity, oxidation), maintaining stable performance
Rubber Gaskets: Such as nitrile rubber (good oil resistance, suitable for parts in contact with lubricating oil), fluororubber (high temperature resistant, chemical corrosion resistant, suitable for high-temperature and high-pressure areas), silicone rubber (resistant to both high and low temperatures, excellent sealing performance, suitable for food-grade or clean environments).
Metal Gaskets: Such as copper gaskets (good ductility, reliable sealing, suitable for high-pressure areas), aluminum gaskets (soft texture, suitable for low-pressure pipelines), metal-coated gaskets (rubber is embedded inside the metal shell, combining the strength of metal and the sealing performance of rubber, used for high-pressure sealing).
Composite Gaskets: Composed of metal and non-metal materials (such as metal framework + rubber layer), combining the advantages of different materials, suitable for occasions with high sealing requirements (such as the connection between cylinder head and cylinder body).
Main Application Areas
Sealing between cylinder head and cylinder body
Connection points of gas storage tank interfaces and pipelines
Installation interfaces of valves, pressure gauges, filters and other accessories
Parts of crankcase and oil pan that need to prevent oil leakage
Connection points of cooling system pipelines
Maintenance and Replacement Precautions
Regular Inspection: During the maintenance of the air compressor, check if the gaskets have aging, cracks, deformation or hardening. If any problems are found, replace them in time.
Correct Installation: Before installation, clean the joint surface, remove oil stains, impurities and residual old gaskets; during installation, avoid over-tightening to prevent the gasket from being crushed and losing elasticity.
Specification Matching: Select appropriate gaskets based on the size of the installation area, working pressure, temperature and contact medium. Do not substitute with other specifications randomly, as it may affect the sealing effect.
High-quality air compressor gaskets can effectively reduce leakage losses, lower energy consumption, and avoid equipment failures and safety hazards caused by leakage. They are indispensable detail components in air compressor maintenance.
