The muffler attenuates the noise through acoustic principles (such as absorption, sound insulation, damping, etc.) to meet environmental protection and occupational health standards (generally requiring ≤ 85 decibels).

II. Common Types and Application Scenarios

Intake muffler

Installed at the air compressor intake, it is the most commonly used type, mainly reducing the airflow noise generated when air is sucked in.

It usually adopts resistive or resistive-impedance composite structures, allowing air to flow smoothly while effectively blocking high-frequency noises.

Exhaust muffler

Used at the air compressor exhaust port or the discharge port of the storage tank, it handles the blasting noise generated when compressed air is rapidly discharged.

It is usually designed as a porous diffusion type or expansion interference type to reduce the noise generated by air flow impact.

Pipe muffler

Installed on the gas transmission pipeline of the air compressor to reduce the noise transmission during gas flow, turbulence, or valve opening and closing within the pipeline.

For small air compressors, wrap the entire machine in a cover with sound-absorbing materials to achieve all-round noise reduction, suitable for environments with extremely high noise requirements.

Compatibility: Select a muffler that matches the air compressor model, intake/exhaust diameter, working pressure, etc., to avoid affecting the noise reduction effect or the efficiency of the air compressor due to size mismatch.

Noise reduction efficiency: Check the noise reduction amount (usually labeled as 20-40 decibels) and preferentially choose products that have passed acoustic certification.

Durability of materials:It is preferable to choose materials that are resistant to corrosion and high temperatures, such as stainless steel and high-quality carbon steel. Especially in environments with moisture or oil mist in compressed air, these materials can significantly extend the service life.
