ATLAS COPCO 1621049600 air compressor GASKET ORIGINAL
ATLAS COPCO 1621049600 Main Functions
Sealing and Leak Prevention: Through its own deformation (elastic or plastic), it fills the microscopic unevenness of the two mating surfaces to prevent the leakage of compressed air, lubricating oil from flanges, end covers, pipe interfaces, etc.
Buffering and Protection: Reduces direct friction and vibration shock between connection components (such as metal and metal), protecting the contact surfaces from scratches or crushing.
Compensating Gaps: Absorbs the changes in gap at the mating surfaces caused by manufacturing errors, assembly deviations or temperature variations, maintaining a stable sealing effect.
Uniform Force Distribution: Distributes the pressure of bolts or fasteners evenly on the mating surfaces, avoiding excessive local stress that causes component deformation.
Common Types and Application Scenarios
Based on materials and structures, it is mainly divided into the following categories:
Rubber Gaskets
Material: Nitrile rubber (resistant to oil), fluorine rubber (resistant to high temperature, chemical corrosion), silicone rubber (resistant to high and low temperatures), etc.
Features: Good elasticity, excellent sealing performance, suitable for low pressure (≤1MPa), normal temperature or medium temperature scenarios.
Applications: Oil cooler interfaces, water pipe joints, low-pressure flange mating surfaces, observation window seals, etc.
Metal Gaskets
Material: Copper, aluminum, low-carbon steel, stainless steel, etc. Type:
Flat washers: Used for the joint surfaces of metal components to enhance sealing and distribute pressure;
Gear washers: Have ring-shaped teeth on the surface, achieving sealing through the deformation of the teeth, suitable for medium and high-pressure scenarios;
Wave washers: Have certain elasticity and can compensate for gap changes, suitable for vibration-prone areas.
Applications: High-pressure cylinder body flanges, oil-gas separator end covers, main shaft sealing seats, etc., in high-pressure areas.
Composite washers
Structure: Metal framework (such as copper, stainless steel) covered with rubber, asbestos, or graphite sealing materials, balancing the strength of the metal and the sealing performance of the non-metal.
Features: High-pressure resistant (up to 10MPa or more), high-temperature resistant, suitable for complex working conditions.
Applications: Screw machine main cover, high-pressure valve flanges, connection parts between oil-gas separators and cylinders.
Asbestos / Non-asbestos washers
Material: Asbestos (traditional material, gradually replaced due to environmental concerns) or non-asbestos fibers (such as glass fibers, aramid fibers) combined with rubber.
Features: Good thermal resistance (-50℃~200℃), low cost, suitable for medium and low-pressure sealing.
Applications: Old piston machine cylinder covers, exhaust pipe flanges, etc.
Key parameters and selection
Size parameters: Inner diameter, outer diameter, thickness need to be strictly matched with the bolt holes and flange dimensions of the connection part, too large will cause installation difficulties, too small will not cover the sealing surface.
Working pressure: Low pressure (≤1MPa) can select rubber or non-asbestos washers; medium and high pressure (1~10MPa) need to select metal or composite washers.
Working temperature: Normal temperature (-20℃~80℃) can select nitrile rubber washers; high temperature (80℃~200℃) need to select fluororubber, metal or graphite composite washers.
Media compatibility: Matched with the contacting media (air, lubricating oil, coolant, etc.), such as nitrile rubber for oil-resistant scenarios, fluororubber or stainless steel for corrosion-resistant scenarios.
Installation and maintenance points
Preparation before installation:
Clean the oil stains, rust, burrs on the joint surface, ensure the surface is flat and clean;
Check if the washers have cracks, damage or aging (such as hardened rubber washers), and do not use those that are unqualified.
Correct installation:
The washers should be centered and placed to ensure complete coverage of the sealing surface, avoid offset causing local leakage;
When tightening the bolts, apply uniform force (in a diagonal sequence), avoid over-tightening which may crush the washers or under-tightening which may lead to poor sealing;
Before installing metal washers, apply a small amount of sealant (such as silicone sealant) to enhance the sealing effect (not necessary, depending on the work
