Atlas Copco Air Compressor Oil Level Indicator Main Functions
Oil Level Monitoring: Displays the current height of the lubricating oil inside the air compressor in real time, helping operators determine if the oil quantity meets the operating requirements (usually within the "minimum" and "maximum" scales).
Oil Quality Observation: Some transparent oil level indicators can simultaneously observe the color and condition of the oil, allowing for the determination of whether the lubricating oil has deteriorated (such as turning black, emulsifying, or containing impurities).
Safety Alert: Issues an early warning for abnormal oil levels (either too high or too low) to prevent poor lubrication due to insufficient oil, increased component wear, or increased fuel consumption and decreased efficiency of the oil separator in the case of excessive oil.
Common Types and Structures
By Material Classification:
Glass/Acrylic Oil Level Indicator: Made of transparent material, directly installed on the oil tank or oil separator housing, indicating the oil level through scale lines. Low cost, intuitive observation, but fragile, suitable for low-pressure, normal-temperature areas.
Metal Shell Oil Level Indicator: Shell made of metal material, with a transparent observation window (glass or heat-resistant plastic) inside, resistant to high pressure and impact, suitable for high-pressure cylinder bodies or high-temperature environments.
Magnetic Oil Level Indicator: Utilizes magnetic coupling principle, with the float rising and falling to drive the external magnetic indicator strip to change color, achieving non-contact oil level display, good sealing, suitable for high-pressure, flammable, and explosive environments.
By Installation Method:
Insert Type: Directly inserted into the oil tank, observed through the side or top, simple structure.
Flange Type: Connected to the oil tank housing through a flange, better sealing, suitable for high-pressure areas.
Tube Type: Connected to the oil tank through a metal tube, can be installed at a convenient observation position, flexible.
Key Parameters and Selection
Working Pressure: Needs to match the oil chamber pressure of the air compressor (such as low-pressure air compressors 0.7-1.0MPa, high-pressure models up to 10MPa or more), to avoid cracking due to insufficient pressure resistance.
Working Temperature: Select based on the working temperature of the lubricating oil (usually -20℃~120℃), high-temperature models require the use of materials resistant to high temperatures (such as borosilicate glass, metal materials).
Observation Method: Exposed (directly exposed for observation) or Concealed (with a protective cover to prevent collision), selected based on the installation environment.
Interface Size: The connection thread or flange size of the oil tank needs to match (such as M16×1.5, G1/2, etc.).
Installation and Usage Precautions
Installation Location: Should be selected at a position where it is easy to observe when the air compressor is stopped, avoiding being blocked by pipes or components, and away from high-temperature heat sources or high-speed rotating components.
Cleaning and Maintenance: Regularly wipe the surface of the oil level indicator to remove oil stains and dust, ensuring clear observation; replace when glass/transparent components are damaged or the scale is blurred.
Oil Level Judgment:
Observe after the air compressor is stopped and the oil circuit returns oil (usually 10-15 minutes), to avoid oil level deviation caused by oil circulation during operation.
The oil level should be maintained between "MIN" (minimum) and "MAX" (maximum) scales. Lower than the lower limit requires timely oil replenishment, and higher than the upper limit requires the discharge of excess oil.
Anti-leakage Sealing: Check the sealing gasket for completeness during installation, use moderate tightening force, to prevent oil leakage.
