Filtering of Oil in Atlas Copco Air Compressors
1. Types and Functions of Filter Elements
The oil filtering system of Atlas Copco air compressors typically consists of the following core components:
Oil Filter (Oil Filter)
It mainly filters solid particles (such as metal debris, dust, etc.) in the lubricating oil to prevent impurities from entering precision components like bearings and rotors, thereby avoiding wear and blockage.
Oil Separator (Oil Separator)
It is used to separate oil from the compressed air, ensuring that the compressed air discharged meets the standard (typically below 3 ppm), and simultaneously recovering the lubricating oil for recycling.
This is the core component of the oil separator, separating the oil and air mixture through multiple layers of filtering materials. Its efficiency directly affects the quality of compressed air and fuel consumption.
2. Replacement Period and Maintenance Points
Replacement Period
The replacement period should be determined based on the air compressor model, operating environment (such as dust concentration, humidity), and lubricating oil type. Generally, it is recommended:
Oil Filter: Every 1,000 - 2,000 hours of operation or as per the equipment manual.
Oil-Air Separator Filter Element: Every 4,000 - 8,000 hours of operation, or immediately replace when the differential pressure reaches the set value (such as 0.8 - 1.0 bar).
In addition, it is recommended to replace the filter oil elements simultaneously when doing so, and also check the oil level and quality of the lubricating oil (whether it is emulsified or discolored), and replace the lubricating oil if necessary.
Maintenance Notes
Before replacement, the machine must be shut down and the system pressure released to ensure safe operation.
Only original Atlas Copco filter elements or certified substitutes should be used to avoid damage to the equipment due to insufficient filtering efficiency from inferior filter elements.
Pay attention to the correct placement of sealing components during installation to prevent oil leakage or air intake.
