The main types and functions of the linkage components of Atlas Copco air compressors

Couplings

The core transmission component used to connect the motor with the compressor main unit (such as the screw rotor), it can transfer torque and compensate for the slight coaxiality deviation during installation. Common types include elastic couplings (containing rubber or polyurethane elastomers), diaphragm couplings, etc., which have the functions of buffering vibration and reducing impact, avoiding component wear caused by rigid connection between the motor and the main unit.

Belts and pulleys

In some belt-driven air compressors, belts connect the motor pulley with the main pulley to achieve power transmission. The belts of Atlas Copco are usually made of high-strength polyurethane or rubber, combined with precisely machined pulleys, to ensure stable transmission efficiency and reduce slipping.

Connecting rods and crankshaft assemblies

Mainly used in piston-type air compressors, connecting rods connect the piston with the crankshaft, converting the rotational motion of the crankshaft into the reciprocating motion of the piston, achieving gas compression. These linkage components need to have high strength and wear resistance, usually made of alloy steel and surface hardened.

Gear transmission assemblies

In some large or special air compressors, gear sets are used to achieve speed regulation and power distribution, ensuring that each component (such as the main unit, fan, oil pump, etc.) operates in accordance with the set ratio. The gears have high precision and close cooperation, reducing transmission losses.

Linkage rods and rocker arms

Often used for mechanical linkage of control components (such as intake valves, unload valves), transferring the actions of electromagnetic valves or cylinders to the valves to achieve loading/unloading, air volume adjustment, etc. They are usually combined with springs, pin shafts, etc., to ensure precise and reliable actions.
