Atlas Copco 2901161600 Temperature Control Valve Maintenance Kit Service Kit

ATLAS COPCO Air Compressor Temperature Control Valve

1. Core Function and Working Principle

Temperature Regulation

The temperature control valve senses the temperature of the lubricating oil or compressed air in the air compressor and automatically regulates the flow of the cooling system (such as cooling water or cooling air) to ensure the equipment operates within the optimal temperature range (typically 70-95°C, depending on the model).

When the temperature is below the set value, the valve closes or shuts off the cooling path, reducing the cooling volume and preventing the compressed air from condensing and generating moisture;

When the temperature is above the set value, the valve opens or increases the cooling path, enhancing heat dissipation and preventing the equipment from aging or the lubricating oil from deteriorating due to overheating.

Protective Function

Prevent unstable oil film due to excessive cooling (affecting lubrication effect), or mechanical failures caused by overheating (such as rotor seizing, seal failure, etc.).

2. Common Types and Application Scenarios

Oil Temperature Control Valve: Used for screw-type air compressors to control the temperature of the lubricating oil, it is the most common type (such as GA series, ZR series are commonly used).

Air Temperature Control Valve: Used in some models to regulate the post-treatment temperature of compressed air to ensure the quality of downstream gas supply.

Structurally, it is mostly of mechanical feedback type (without external power), sensing temperature changes through wax temperature sensing elements or metal bellows, and achieving automatic opening and closing.

3. Fault Manifestations and Maintenance Tips

Common Faults

Valve Stuck: Due to the accumulation of oil and impurities, it cannot be opened or closed normally, resulting in continuous high temperature or low temperature of the equipment.

Temperature Sensor Failure: Inaccurate temperature sensing, leading to control failure.

Sealing Failure: Leakage of oil or water, affecting cooling efficiency.

Maintenance Suggestions

Regular Inspection: Combined with the maintenance cycle of the air compressor (such as every 2000-4000 hours), check if the valve operates flexibly and if there is any leakage.

Cleaning and Maintenance: Clean the internal parts of the valve to remove oil and impurities to avoid sticking.

Timely Replacement: If the valve fails (such as frequent high-temperature alarms of the equipment), replace the original parts (such as model 3112009400, etc., matching the model is required) to ensure compatibility with the system.
