I. Core Components and Functions of the Atlas Copco Kit

Based on the working characteristics of the air compressor, the DD160 filter kit usually includes the following key filters (the specific configuration may vary slightly depending on the specific model):

Atlas Copco air intake filter

Function: Filters out dust, sand particles, fibers, etc. of solid impurities in the atmosphere entering the main unit of the air compressor (the filtration accuracy is generally 1-5 micrometers), preventing these impurities from entering the compression chamber and causing wear of core components such as rotors and bearings, and avoiding the blockage of impurities that affects the intake volume.

Structural features: Mostly adopts folded high-efficiency filter paper or composite filter materials, the shell is made of metal or high-strength plastic, some have pressure difference indicators. When the filter element is clogged (resistance exceeds the set value) it will give a reminder for replacement.

Air oil separator filter element

Function: It is the core filtering component of the oil-injected air compressor, used to separate the lubricating oil carried in the compressed air (the separation efficiency is usually required to be ≥ 99.9%), so that the oil content of the discharged compressed air is controlled below 3 ppm, and the separated oil is recycled to the oil tank for reuse.

Structural features: Mostly cylindrical, using multi-layer glass fiber or polyester fiber composite filter materials, capturing tiny oil droplets through interception and coagulation principles, the top has a one-way return oil valve to prevent oil from flowing back when the machine stops.

Oil filter

Function: Filters out metal debris, oil sludge, gums, etc. of impurities in the air compressor lubricating oil (filtration accuracy can reach below 10 micrometers), protecting the gearbox, bearings, etc. lubrication parts, avoiding mechanical failures caused by oil contamination.

Structural features: Mostly in a screw-on design, the filter paper core is internally designed with a pleated structure to increase the filtration area, the shell is made of pressure-resistant metal material, some have bypass valves (automatically open when the filter element is clogged to prevent oil leakage).

Pre-filter / Precision filter (optional)

If the kit is for high cleanliness demand scenarios (such as air compressors for food and pharmaceutical industries), it may include a post-treatment filter for compressed air, further removing moisture, oil mist and fine particles, so that the end-use gas quality is higher.

III. Atlas Copco Replacement and Maintenance Tips

Replacement cycle:

Air filter: Depending on the dust concentration in the environment, it is generally replaced every 500-1000 hours (or replace immediately when the pressure difference indicator alarms);

Atlas Copco oil separator filter element: It is recommended to replace every 2000-4000 hours (if the oil content in the compressed air exceeds the standard or the pressure drop is too large, it is necessary to replace earlier);

Atlas Copco oil filter: Replaced synchronously with the lubricating oil, usually once every 1000-2000 hours.

Atlas Copco installation notes:

Before replacement, the machine must be shut down and depressurized to ensure safety;

When installing the new filter element, check if the sealing gasket is intact, and if necessary, apply a small amount of clean lubricating oil to assist in sealing;

Avoid excessive force when tightening to prevent the shell from deforming or the seal from failing. Atlas Copco Performance Monitoring: After replacing the components, start the air compressor and observe whether the system pressure is stable. Check for any leaks at all interfaces and ensure that the filtration system is operating normally.
