Atlas Copco Air Compressor Air Filter Elements
1. Core Functions and Roles
Inhalation Purification: As the "first line of defense" for the air compressor, it can effectively filter solid particles such as dust, sand, pollen, etc. in the air (with a filtration accuracy of typically 1-5 μm), preventing impurities from entering the main components (such as screw, rotor, etc.) and causing abrasive wear.
Energy Saving: The reasonable pore size design of high-quality filter elements can achieve efficient filtration while reducing intake resistance, avoiding increased compressor energy consumption due to poor air intake.
Protection of Downstream Systems: Reducing pollutants entering the compression system, reducing the pollution speed of lubricating oil, oil filter elements, and other consumables, and extending their replacement cycle.
2. Main Types and Applicable Models
Standard Inlet Filter Elements:
Suitable for most conventional conditions (such as factory workshops, environments with high cleanliness).
Suitable models are wide-ranging, such as GA series (GA37, GA75, etc.), ZR series oil-free machines, ZT series variable frequency machines, etc. Different models correspond to different sizes and interface specifications (matching should be based on specific models).
Heavy-duty Air Filter Elements:
With thicker filter materials and larger dust capacity design, suitable for harsh environments with high dust concentration (such as mines, cement plants, construction sites).
Commonly found in large industrial air compressors or customized models, they can extend the replacement cycle and reduce maintenance frequency.
Safety Filter Elements (Secondary Filter Elements):
Some models adopt a "main filter element + safety filter element" dual design. When the main filter element is accidentally damaged, the safety filter element can temporarily intercept impurities to avoid damage to the main unit. Usually, they are replaced together with the main filter element.
3. Replacement and Maintenance Tips
Replacement Cycle:
Normal environment: It is recommended to replace once every 2000-4000 hours (specifically as per the equipment manual).
Harsh environment: Check once every 1000-2000 hours. If the filter element surface is visibly dusty or the intake resistance exceeds the specified value (usually 0.05 MPa), it should be replaced immediately.
Replacement Steps:
Stop the machine and cut off the power supply, release the pressure in the intake system.
Open the filter element housing (usually by snap-fit or bolt fixation), remove the old filter element, be careful not to let the dust on the filter element surface fall into the intake port.
Clean the interior of the housing, check if the sealing gasket is intact, if it is aged, it should be replaced simultaneously.
When installing the new filter element, ensure the filter material is undamaged, the sealing surface is tightly attached, and tighten the housing with the specified torque (avoiding loose installation to prevent unfiltered air from entering).
