The main functions of Atlas Copco WUX regulating valve
Pressure control and stability
As a pressure-sensitive valve, the WUX regulating valve can automatically adjust the opening degree according to the set pressure range (such as the user's required pressure or the feedback pressure from the pipeline network):
When the system pressure is lower than the set value, the valve opens wider, increasing the intake volume and enabling the compressor to operate under load, thereby increasing the exhaust volume;
When the system pressure is higher than the set value, the valve closes or shuts off, reducing the intake volume, causing the compressor to enter the unloaded state and avoiding overpressure.
This maintains the downstream pipeline network pressure within a stable range, ensuring the normal operation of the gas-using equipment.
Load regulation and energy saving
By precisely controlling the intake volume, it enables the compressor to operate in "partial load" mode (instead of frequent start-stop), which is particularly suitable for scenarios with significant fluctuations in gas demand:
Reduce energy waste during unloading (the compressor still rotates but energy consumption is significantly reduced during the unloading state);
Reduce mechanical wear and extend the service life of the main unit and motor.
Protection functions
Some WUX regulating valves integrate safety protection logic. When a compressor anomaly is detected (such as overheating or overload), it can联动 close the intake channel， forcing the compressor to unload or shut down， preventing the expansion of the fault.
Structure and working principle
Core structure： Usually consists of the valve body， valve core， spring， diaphragm (or piston)， pressure sensing holes， and control interface. Some models come with an electromagnetic drive component (for remote control).
Working logic：
The pressure sensing holes monitor the system pressure in real time and transmit the signal to the diaphragm (or piston)；
When the pressure changes， the diaphragm is subjected to force and drives the valve core to move， changing the cross-sectional area of the intake channel；
The spring provides the reset force and forms a balance with the sensed pressure， achieving stable regulation of the valve opening.
Compatible models and applications
Compatible models： The WUX regulating valve is mainly used with Atlas Copco small and medium-sized fixed-speed screw air compressors (such as some models of the GA series)， especially for models without frequency conversion control， as the core component for load regulation.
Application scenarios： Widely used in industrial fields with high requirements for pressure stability (such as mechanical processing， automated production lines， packaging industries， etc.)， to precisely regulate and meet the gas demand under different working conditions.
