2. Atlas Copco Silencer Part Sound Absorbing Material
Function: Reduces noise by absorbing sound energy. It is the core noise reduction component of the silencer.
Common materials:
Glass fiber: Low cost and good sound absorption effect, but protective measures need to be taken to avoid fiber shedding and contaminating compressed air.
Porous ceramics: Resistant to high temperatures and oil stains, suitable for oil-lubricated air compressors.
Metal wire mesh / porous metal plate: Good air permeability, can withstand high pressure, often used in high-pressure air compressors.
Polyester fiber: Environmentally friendly and not prone to moisture absorption, suitable for scenarios with high air quality requirements (such as food, pharmaceutical industries).
3. Atlas Copco Silencer Part Internal Structural Components
Porous tubes / partitions:
Guide the airflow to be evenly distributed, allowing the sound waves to fully contact the sound-absorbing material.
The perforation design (diameter, spacing) needs to be optimized according to the exhaust frequency of the air compressor to enhance the noise reduction effect in specific frequency bands.
Expansion chamber / resonator:
Utilize the principle of sound wave reflection and interference to cancel noise, often used to reduce low-frequency noise.
Different volume chambers can be combined to cover a wider frequency range.
4. Atlas Copco Silencer Part Connection Interfaces
Function: Connects to the air compressor exhaust port, pipeline, etc., to ensure a tight seal without leakage.
Form:
Threaded interface (such as NPT, G thread): Suitable for small air compressors, installation is convenient.
Flange interface: Used for medium and large air compressors, connection is firm, and the sealing performance is good.
Quick connector: Convenient for disassembly and maintenance, common in mobile air compressors.
5. Atlas Copco Silencer Part Guard Net / Filter Layer
Function: Prevents particles from the sound-absorbing material from entering the air compressor system or pipeline, avoiding contamination of the equipment or end-use gas.
Material: Metal net (such as stainless steel net) or high-temperature-resistant filter cloth, needs to be cleaned or replaced regularly to prevent blockage.
Types of silencers (by structure)
Resistant silencer: Reflects sound waves through expansion chambers, resonators, etc., suitable for reducing low-frequency noise.
Resonant silencer: Mainly relies on sound-absorbing materials to absorb sound waves, good at reducing mid-to-high frequency noise.
Resonant-impedance composite silencer: Combines the advantages of both, can simultaneously reduce noise in a wide frequency range, the most widely used.
