Atlas Copco Air Compressor Drainage Solenoid Valve

Model:EWD 330M
Troubleshooting process Check the power supply: Use a multimeter to check if the power is normal and the voltage is stable. Check the coil: Measure the resistance of the coil to determine if it has burned out. Check the mechanical part of the valve: Remove the valve, check for any foreign objects blocking it and whether the spring is damaged. Check the control system: If it is an automatic drainage system, check if the timer or sensor is working properly. Pressure test: Test the opening and closing functions of the valve under system pressure.

I. Mechanical Faults

Impurities blockage

Cause: Dust, oil, rust and other impurities in the compressed air enter the valve, causing the valve core to get stuck or the seal to be inadequate.

Solution: Regularly clean the valve and pipeline, install a pre-filter, and choose an electromagnetic valve with self-cleaning function.

Seal aging

Cause: Long-term exposure to high temperature, high pressure or chemical corrosion leads to aging and cracking of rubber seals (O-rings, diaphragms).

Solution: Select sealing materials that are resistant to high temperature and corrosion (such as fluororubber), and replace the seals regularly.

Spring fatigue

Cause: Frequent opening and closing leads to weakened spring elasticity, making the valve unable to close or open properly.

Solution: Choose high-quality springs, reduce frequent start-stop operations, and replace the springs when necessary.

II. Electrical Faults

Coil burnout

Cause: Unstable voltage, overload, dampness of the coil, or insulation damage.

Solution: Check the power supply voltage, install a surge protector, and choose waterproof coils (with protection grade IP65 or above).

Wiring loosening

Cause: Vibration or oxidation causing loose connection terminals, resulting in overheating or power failure.

Solution: Regularly inspect the wiring, use anti-loosening terminals or solder connections.

Insufficient electromagnetic force

Cause: Aging of the coil, wear of the iron core, or adsorption of impurities leading to a decrease in suction force.

Solution: Clean the iron core, replace the coil or the electromagnetic valve assembly.

III. Environmental Factors Corrosion

Reason: Acidic or alkaline substances (such as condensed water not being promptly discharged) are present in the compressed air, causing corrosion of the valve body or coil.

Solution: Use stainless steel or coated valves, and install a dryer to reduce air humidity.

High temperature or low temperature

Reason: The environmental temperature exceeds the rated range of the electromagnetic valve (such as -10℃ to 80℃), resulting in hardening of the sealing components or degradation of the coil performance.

Solution: Choose a wide-temperature electromagnetic valve, or add insulation/heating measures in extreme environments.

Vibration or shock

Reason: The vibration from the compressor causes the internal parts of the electromagnetic valve to loosen or be damaged.

Solution: Use shock-absorbing brackets to fix the electromagnetic valve to avoid rigid connections.

Four. Improper Use

Overpressure operation

Reason: The system pressure exceeds the rated pressure of the electromagnetic valve, causing the valve to fail to close or lose its sealing function.

Solution: Install a pressure safety valve to ensure that the system pressure is within the rated range of the electromagnetic valve.

Frequent start-stop

Reason: Switching the electromagnetic valve frequently within a short period accelerates mechanical wear and causes the coil to overheat.

Solution: Adjust the drainage cycle to avoid frequent actions (suggested: each opening time ≥ 5 seconds).

Not regular maintenance

Reason: Long-term lack of cleaning or replacement of wear-prone parts leads to sudden failure due to accumulated faults.

Solution: Develop a maintenance plan, regularly inspect the sealingity, operational flexibility and electrical performance of the electromagnetic valve.

Five. Product Quality Issues

Low-quality materials

Reason: Using low-quality sealing components, springs or coils leads to shortened lifespan.

Solution: Choose well-known brands or original factory parts, and check product certifications (such as CE, UL).

Design flaws

Reason: Inefficient structure (such as a small drainage outlet or no waterproof design) causes blockage or moisture absorption.

Solution: Replace with a redesigned model or add auxiliary drainage devices.
